The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

The Lost Hero
By Rick Riordan

When I got the book I was very excited to read it and when I did I was very satisfied after I read it. This book is like a continuation of the Camp Half-Blood series. I think that you should read the Percy Jackson books before you read this book. The Lost Hero is about a boy named Jason who's on a bus not remembering anything of his past. A girl named Piper who's supposedly his girlfriend tells him that he's on a bus with his Wilderness School classmates. A kid named Leo tells him that the Wilderness School is where children that have done bad things go. After they are attacked by wind spirits they meet Annabeth and go to Camp Half-Blood where the adventure begins.

I liked this book because it compared Greek mythology and Roman mythology and that made it very interesting. This book was also from multiple peoples views, Leo's, Piper's, and Jason's. I did like that but he made the chapter names the name of the person narrating so there were no funny chapter names. I missed that but I wouldn't want to get confused in who was narrating the story. Some people might say that they don't like the triple narrative because they want to have the same experience as the character. Other people might say that they like it being triple narrative because you know the secrets that some of the characters are keeping (if there are any).
Caution Spoilers Following!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me as Thalia last Halloween

Me as Annabeth this Halloween

The next book being called Son of Neptune definitely tells you that Percy is at the Roman camp and we are probably going to follow Percy at the other camp. My personal opinion is that it should follow Thalia, but that would probably not happen. Another thought on the matter was that it might be new character from the Roman camp who meets Percy and it follows them.

My favorite character is Leo, I like him even though he is kind of side-kicky. He recreates Festus twice so that makes me think that if he fixes anything it'll come back even better. I also like Piper because even though she's in the Aphrodite cabin she's really a rough and tumble girl. Now Jason was my least favorite character of the trio even though he was the main character. He seemed too oh-my-gosh-I'm-a-son-of-Zeus-let's-go-fight-and-I'll-take-on-the-big-one-because-I'm-awesome-ish.

Now I hope you love this book as much as I did!

  1. This comment is SPOILERish SPOILERish SPOILERish SPOILERish SPOILERish SPOILERish SPOILERish SPOILERish. So, what I wonder is whether Percy is the ONLY son of Neptune at the Roman camp? What if he gets there, but the next book is about a DIFFERENT son of Neptune? How cool would that be?

Do you think that Rick Riordan had a Roman camp in the Bay Area in mind when he wrote the original series or do you think he just realized that he could fit it in there when he started writing this series?

  6. If Percy has lost his memory, just like Jason, does it means that he don't remember Annabeth? Do you think Jason's original girlfriend is in Roman camp? Imagine if Percy had fallen in love with another girl! Or even if he had fallen in love with Jason's girlfriend!?

    1. Spoiler if you have not read the Son of Neptune yet.

Actually, in the book Son of Neptune Percy remembers Annabeth. She is still in his memory and he does not fall in love with another girl.

  11. Well guys there are several options for the next book.First of all Percy is a son of Poseidon in Greek form Not Roman.I know he lost his memory and all but trust me i know all the books inside and out i have read the whole Percy Jackson & the Olympians Series 8x ,The Kane Chronicles 2x, and The Heroes of Olympus 4x.In my opinion It is the best series ever. I am Greek and Roman and I am a Swordsman, which sounds weird but I am also Scottish,Irish,German,Italian,French,British, and Native American. But Im white speak perfect english and live in the U.S.A.Those are just my ancestors, anyway back to the book. What if it is another demigod son of Poseidon/Neptune and they Percy is still lost or dead. I know I would hate him to do but Rick could decide to kill him off ......devastating.Percy is my favorite character. But Jason is cool too. Or they would think percy is a son of neptune.Unless there is another son of neptune.I like Greek mythology the most but Roman is cool and So is Egyptian.Oh and p.s anonymous They ruined the first movie.:>

  14. Well Jason had a gf and didn't remember what if.Percy doesn't remember annabeth?

  15. I think you got the personality of Jason wrong. First of all, he's not that arrogant. Besides, all he does is let his friends use their specialties against the enemy... Besides, he's the strongest one of them. Isn't it normal that he should beat the "big one"? Remember, he's also Roman, which means that he's more strict and "divide and conquer" or whatever. I think Jason is actually pretty cool.

  16. Personally I like Piper. I wish they had more of Piper telling the important scenes rather than Jason or Leo. I wanted to have it from Jason or Leo's point of view with the Medea thing in the department store though.

  17. This is the best book series ever!!!!!!! I am a total greek mythology fan.The book son of neptune is probably going to describe Percy's adventures at the roman camp.I am so anxious for it to come out. Also DISNY RUINED THE MOVIE SOOOOOO BAD :( THEY CAN'T EVEN MAKE A SECOND ONE BECAUSE THEY LEFT OUT SOOO MUCH!!!!!!! Also I know that Percy's memory is probably lost like Jason's but what if Percy forgets about Annebeth and what if jason had a girl friend he forgot about? (but Piper and Jason will probably go out) SHOCKING but that would be really interesting I don't know that is just my oppinion

  30. I don't know but, I think it's going to come out 2012 winter because that seems to be his pattern for writing the Kane Chronicles and The Lost Hero. I also know that's it's called The Mark of Athena.
